Promises Part 1. [one shot]
Title : Promises

Pairing: Yamapi x Ryo-chan

Summary: A promise made...and a secret that they have been Keeping since 15 years ago...?!

"Ryo-chan! Ryo-chan! Hurry up!!" A 10 year-old shouted to his friend and ran towards a huge tree near their house in Tokyo. The other who's older by 1 year, but looked so much smaller than the other, took his time to the tree.
"Mou, Pi! Why did we have to come all the way here!? I am so tired! I slept so late last night..." said Ryo as he rubbed his eyes.
"This, is what they call, a time capsule!" Yamashita Tomohisa said holding onto a wooden box that has a lock.
"It's just a box. and Who's they?!" Ryo said sitting down, leaning onto the tree. Ignoring question, Yamapi took out 2 small paper and 2 coloured pen, and handed one of each to Ryo.
"Here! Write your wishes for 15 years later!!" he said and turned his back towards Ryo as he started writing his wishes earnestly.
"...15 years is way too long! I don't want to wait that long!" Ryo whined, and when he saw that once again, he's being ignored, so he just plays along.
When they both finished writing and have already placed the paper into the box, Yamapi took out the key to lock the box. Ryo buried the box under the tree and Yamapi made a necklace with half of the key to the box.
"..You can break a key!?" Ryo said when Yamapi handed the necklace-key to him.
"No i can't. It's the design of this key. Now we both have the key and nobody is allowed to open the box without each other. I don't know what will happen during the 15 years, but in 15 years time, no matter where we are or what we do, let's meet back here at this tree!" Yamapi said with a smile that seemed forced. Ryo noticed the weird behaviour of his best friend.
"Pi...you ok?" Ryo asked when yamapi faced downwards all of a sudden. "You've been acting weird all morning..."
Ryo approached Yamapi and reached out to pat his friend, only to be pulled in to a tight embrace. Ryo was shocked at Pi's sudden action. If he wasn't worried sick about the other, he would be enjoying and taking advantage of every moment without thinking much.
"Promise me that no matter what happens during this 15 years, we will come back here again..." Yamapi said, head still buried in Ryo's chest. Ryo nodded and they stayed that way for a while more before heading back home.
After that day, Both Ryo and Yamapi's parents got posted to another office in their company. Yamapi's family migrated to Europe and Ryo's family shifted house to Osaka.
15 Years later:
"Nishikido-san, here's the report you wanted. " An intern from Tokyo university said to Ryo. Without answering, Ryo looked at the intern's face and nodded. He paid attention the sounds of the intern walking out and after he heard the click of the door, he leaned back on his chair and close his eyes to relax. Being the managing director of the company that his father once worked at, Ryo needed a little time off to relax every once in awhile.
Seconds later, Ryo heard 3 knocks on the door. He spun his chair around to face the door and signaled for the person to come in. When he saw who it was, he leaned back again and closed his eyes once again. His secretary, Erika toda, placed 2 files on the table and explained to Ryo the origins of it.
"Also, There will be an important guest from Europe who will be arriving in Tokyo's Narita airport in a few weeks time. Yamashita-san, director from in Europe will be staying over in Tokyo for 2 years. The director wants you to be of assistance to him as he has been away from Tokyo for a very long time. He will be staying over at your place. During that one week when u are off, you will be considered to be on paid leave. After which, You will show him around the office when you 2 come back. He wants you to relax during the one week since you haven't had a proper rest since you started working here as far as he remembers." She said and closed her organiser.
"The old man wouldn't say something like that. You added in the last sentence didn't you?" Ryo said, spinning from left to right in his chair. Erika smiled and nodded her head. Apart from being an employee, Erika was Ryo's university friend and classmate so they were considered to be close.
"It's a fact. Look at that you. Don't tell me you don't wish for this vacation at all! Count yourself lucky! While you are gone, I'll be handling all this shit!" she exclaimed
"Aww..." Ryo teased, which earned him a death glare from Erika.
"Well then, I shall take my leave." Erika said and banged the door, expressing her dismay out in the open.
"Yamashita... no...it can't be..." Ryo shook his head vigorously at that thought.
The day came, and Ryo was able to sleep more and even had the time to laze around that day. He left his apartment around evening and waited at the airport for the important guest. He sat in the arrival hall and waited until he saw someone wearing his company's tag walk out of the gate.
As Ryo approached, he saw a really muscular man who had brownish coloured hair. The colour of his body is a little bit tanned as well. Overall, apart from his out-of-the-world build and looks to make every women to die for, the way he dressed really made him blend in to the crowd so if it wasn't for the tag, Ryo would never be able to recognise him.
"Ano...Yamashita-san?" He said to the man who seems lost. When he turned around, Ryo knew he has found the correct guy.
"...naaa...there's no way he would be him..." Ryo thought as he approach the other.
"...Why does he look so familiar?...though they do have the same last names..." The other guy thought when he saw Ryo.
"Nishikido desu." Ryo said and shook hands with the other.
"I know who you are. I heard from the Tokyo's main office about you." The man said and they both started walking out of the airport.
Ryo drove the important guest to his apartment. Throughout the whole journey, neither of them talked.
"So, What's your reason for coming to Tokyo?" Ryo said finally, Unable to take the awkward silence any longer.
"Personal matters. Also, to learn from the main office here in Tokyo. The office in Europe wants to know how things work around here." He said and looked out of the window.
Ryo didn't know how to continue any further.
"Do you have any place you would like to go?" Ryo asked.
Yamashita turned to face him and his face lit up. He thought for awhile before answering to Ryo's question.
"I want to go drinking tonight." He said. Ryo smiled.
"I know just the place." He replied.
After they left all the luggage at Ryo's place, they both changed out of their formal wear into stylish casual wear which all young adults would wear.
"Not bad. Hard to tell you were away from Japan for almost half your life." Ryo joked and Yamashita smiled.
They both walked into the bar near their apartment and sat at a counter seat. They ordered something their share of food and while waiting, they started talking.
"What made you go over to Europe?" Ryo asked.
"My father was posted there. Have been there almost all my life..."
"...There's someone I am very close with who's father was posted to Europe too. I don't even know where he is now..." Ryo said and took a gulp of his drink as the waiter placed it there.
"You really miss him don't you.." Yamashita said.
"...You have no idea..." Ryo said,really upset.
"By the way, Nishikido-san, how old are you?" Yamashita asked.
"I'm 25 this year, turning 26 soon...why?"
"...I have a friend that once lived in Tokyo...He should be 25,going 26 this year too. I wonder where he is..."
"So it seems...we're both missing someone important in our lives huh..."Ryo said and they both laughed.

They both left the bar half sober. Both laughing and playing a fool, they seemed like 5 year old kids, the total opposite of how they were suppose to act at the age of 24 and 25. All of a sudden, Ryo accidentally knocked into some Yakuza-like people. Ryo turned around and found a group of about 5 to 6 people moving towards them.
"Oh shit..." Ryo thought and they both backed away.
"You Bastard! Where are your eyes?! Are they at the back of your head?!" the person practically yelled at them both.
"...I'm sorry." Ryo said, but the guy wasn't satisfied.
"HUH?!" he said and advanced towards Ryo. He grabbed Ryo by his collar and slammed him, back first against the wall to the left of them.
"You think you'd get away just by saying 'Sorry'? Tough luck. I'm in a bad mood today." He said and pushed his fist up Ryo's neck, choking him in the process.
"Let him go. Just what do you want?!" Yamashita said and tried to pull the guy's hands away but before he could reach him, 2 of the guy's followers dragged him back.
"What's this? Are you two...?!" The guy said and all of them started laughing.
"It's...not what you think!" Ryo said trying to struggle out of the guy's hold.
"Shut up. I'm not asking you." The guy yelled at Ryo.
They were in a dire situation. All of a sudden, Ryo, in the blink of an eye, kicked the guy who was holding on to him in his crotch. Once the guy let go, he pushed the 2 guys who were holding on to Yamashita and pulled him by the hand and they both ran back home together.
They heaved a sigh of relief after they had entered the doors of Ryo's apartment. Yamashita pulled away when he realised they were still holding hands. Still panting away, Ryo laid back on the floor facing the ceiling, pretend to not notice that they ran back home together hand in hand. Lucky for them, both of their faces were already red due to all the running that nobody noticed the other blushing. Yamashita sat down on next to him and when both of their eyes met, they laughed.
"Now I'm fully sober." Yamashita joked. Ryo laughed and sat up properly.
"...Oh no...Why is my heart beating faster than when I was running...shit...this is not good..." Yamashita thought to himself.
"What was I thinking...Holding his hands like that out in public..." Ryo thought to himself.
"I'm gonna take a bath first, make yourself at home..." Ryo said and left the living room, breaking the tense atmosphere among the 2 of them.
When Ryo came out, he didn't see anyone in the room, so he assumed that the other has already slept. However, he was proved wrong when he heard footsteps and a few banging here and there coming from Yamashita's room.
Ryo was curious and so, he went to check on him.
"...Yamashita-san, are you ok?" Ryo said and knocked on the door. When no one replied, Ryo opened the door slightly and already, he could see a really messy room. Just when he was about to open the door fully and walk in, Ryo felt a strong pull from the other side of the door and he himself was pulled in. Ryo lost his balance when he tried to let go of the door knob, only to fall on top of his guest, knocking Yamashita onto the floor in the process.
After what seemed like forever, Ryo slowly supported his hands on the floor and tried to stand up. His eyes met Yamashita's when he tried to stand up and they stared at each other for another few seconds.
"Ahh! i'm so sorry!" Ryo said, breaking away from the other's glaze and sat up. The other too, sat up and began his frantic search after shaking off the thought of what just happened.
"...Ano...what are you looking for?" Ryo asked. "Maybe i can help?"
"It's a really important thing to me. I'm looking for a necklace..." Yamashita said under his breath. Ryo tilted his head.
"...a necklace huh...i'll be surprised if you could actually find anything in this mess..." He thought and moved around the room helping to search for the lost item.
As he moved around the place filled with clothes all around the floor, He saw a silver chain sticking out under some clothes on the bed. He went over and pulled it out. True enough, it was the necklace that is shaped like a half key.
"...This..." Ryo said.
He took out his own necklace which he held so dear to him from the inside of his shirt and matched it with the one on his hand. There. A perfect match.
Ryo froze. Never in his life would he imagine that the one standing right here in his room, was the person he has been trying his hardest to contact since the day they separated. Feelings took over his thoughts and actions as he looked intensely at the other guy in the room.
"...Pi...It really is you..." Ryo cried out softly.
"...Did you say something?"The other turned around and said. "why're you looking at me like that?"
"...Yamashita Tomohisa!" Ryo cried out louder this time around.
"What's with you? Why are you shouting? And why did you just call my full name?!" he said, a little annoyed, wondering why Ryo was suddenly being overly-familiar with him, especially since he didn't tell the other his full name when they met and has only been addressing each other by their family name.
"Don't you have the slightest idea who i am?!" Ryo said, hands being placed on Yamapi's shoulders. Yamapi kept quiet with a confused look.
"15 LONG YEARS DAMN IT! Do you have ANY idea how LONG I have been trying to contact you?!" Ryo said, losing his cool.
"...Ryo-chan...?" Yamapi said, not believing his eyes. Ryo held up the 2 necklaces and the fully matched key.
"I never thought..."Yamapi said and felt tears welling up. It has been too long since he has last seen or heard from his beloved. Without further delay, Yamapi ran and hugged Ryo.
"It's you, it's really you! I thought I will never see you ever again!"
